He attended St. Thomas Episcopal and Tilden High School, graduating in 1969. He then joined the Army and became a Paratrooper, serving as a SP5 with the 82nd Airborne Division and XVIII Airborne Corp from 1978 to 1983, stationed in Fort Bragg, NC. After the military, it was important to him to obtain his degree. He attended Shaw University and graduated with a Bachelors of Science in 1984. He relocated to South New Jersey and worked for Blue Cross Blue Shield and a prestigious attorney’s office in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
As a child his sisters and mother said Ken was truly spoiled because he was the only boy in the family. He was spoiled but also loved and protected by his family, especially by his big sisters. His family were his
closest friends. He had a great philosophy and approach to life. He never held a grudge because life was short; that’s why his relationships were strong. Everyone knew where he stood because he would definitely tell them!
Ken moved from the North and finally set roots down in South Florida in 2004. He met his wonderful wife, Glenese, in March 2014, and they were soon married in May of 2015. They made their home in Coral Springs, Florida. Glenese and Ken loved spending time with their dogs, Deuce, Sheba (aka Ms. Missy), and Hoagie (aka Doc), going to the beach and relaxing by the pool. Ken developed a passion for music and football, especially his beloved Patriots. He should’ve invested in stock in both Ralph Lauren and Air Jordan because he owned 100 Polo T-shirts and Jordans. Ken’s favorite pastimes were shopping with coupons at Penn Dutch, going to Home Depot, going to the dog tracks, watching college football, and going to the movies and traveling with his wife, Glenese.
He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Raymond Pitter.
