Ramon Mercado Rosas, age 70, died peacefully in the arms of his wife on Tuesday, November 12, 2019 at their Pembroke Pines home, after a courageous battle with cancer. Ramon came into this world on October 13, 1949 in Lajas, Puerto Rico. He was the first born son of Laura Georgina Rosas and Ramon Mercado Sr. Ramon was a loving son who cared for his mother and younger sister, Virgen, all his life.

After graduating high school, he moved to New York City in order to make a better life for himself and them. Throughout the years he worked in a jewelry store and for many years after that, in the oriental rug industry. A short while later he met Carmen Natal, the woman who would become the love of his life. Carmen had 2 kids, Mildred & Carlos. He raised these children as his very own. He was a wonderful father and husband. He was also a devoted grandfather to Carlos’ children.

In 2003 Ramon & Carmen left the Bronx together and relocated to Pembroke Pines. This became their paradise. Soon Ramon started working for the Broward County Schools - a job he loved and was very proud of. He happily retired in 2017 so he could spend all his time with Carmen and the family. They loved traveling together and they shared a passion for gardening and cooking.

Ray was adored by so many family and friends. He is survived by, his devoted wife: Carmen; his loving children: Mildred (William) and Carlos (Ileana); His dear sister: Virgen; nephew: Erick; niece: Marely; great-niece: Marivi; great-nephew: Yair; And sweet grandchildren: Carlos, Jaime and Samantha; in addition to many cousins, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews and many other dear family members.

We love you Raymond!

I extend my sincere condolences to the Mercado family on their loss. Jehovah God promises us that through his son Jesus, he will wipe out every tear from our eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. Revelation 21:3,4
Please take comfort from this promise during your time of bereavement.

As I sit in your favorite chair that looks out to the patio, watching your plants and trees blowing in the breeze, I feel your presence. We are willing to be without you if that means you’re no longer in pain. Rest In Peace and keep watching over us always.

Ramon was one of the nicest, caring, and most gentlest guys I ever met. Am praying that the Spirit of God brings peace and consolation to his family. May he rest in peace.

I was so sad to hear Ramon passed. He was our security guard at Broward Schools tech center. He always had a smile and said "Hi" to me. My deepest condolences to his family.

He'll be sorely missed.
