born on April 26, 1936 in
St. Margarets Bay, Portland,
Jamaica. She is a mother to
seven children, twenty -seven
grandchildren, and thirty
four great-grandchildren. She
was always working wherever
she could find work, and after
residing in Portland for some
years, she relocated to Spanish Town where she became a
vendor to support her family.
She immigrated to Florida in 1987, and she worked as a
nurse’s aide living in patients’ houses taking care of them.
She worked relentlessly ensuring that separating from her
children and grand-children would only be brief. With
her tenacity, she was able to reunite with her children and
grandchildren when they came to live with her in Florida
approximately two years after.
She was one of the first members to attend Unity New
Testament Church of God, and she became one of the
mothers of the church. Because her mother instilled the
value of Christianity in her and her siblings at a tender age,
she grew up having a fear and a love for God, so even though
she was not a Christian while she was residing in Jamaica,
she knew that God was her creator and she believed in
them wholeheartedly. After she lost her sight, her children
were panicking, but she assured them that her God has
given her the peace that surpassed all understanding, and
so because of her faith, we were strengthened by it.
Mother Foster, Miss Cynth, Cousin Cynth, Blessing, mama,
grandma as she was called. We miss you very much, and I
know that you are resting in peace.
