and Florean Ross in Pelham, Georgia. They named
him Richard Horace Ross; he was the fourth child out
of 17 children. He attended Michigan County Training
School in Pelham. In 1965, Richard decided he wanted
to migrate south to be closer to his mother.
To know Richard is to love him; he had a very caring
heart. He was also one to tell you how he felt without
an issue. He worked at Manor Caring Nursing Home
for a few years and then moved on to Broward Rehab,
where he worked for 35 years, serving in maintenance.
Richard loved his job; he would go in early just to have
coffee ready and prepared to make sure his co-workers
In 2009, Richard’s health began to fail him. During
that time he spent his days watching his favorite sport,
Memories of his life will forever remain in the heart of
his dear wife, Marybea Ross; his five sons, Robin Ross,
Horace Ross, Demetrius Ross, Richard Ross (preceded
in death), and Modio Jennings; four daughters, Glenda
Jennings, Tenya Jennings, Shaquita Johnson, and
Lakisha Salley; seventeen grandchildren, Daunttariss
Ross, Horace Ross, Dionte Little, Tranivia John-
Brown, Tynnetta John, Tauris Neely, Tenisha Hooks,
Terrell Salley, Kelvin Clark, David Bell, Nakia Outten,
My’Kel Rowlan, My’Kayla Rowlan, Jamerra Williams,
Mercaida Ross, Jacob Williams, and Rachard Williams;
thirteen siblings, Pinkey (Copper) Brown, Judson (Lora
K.) Ross, Larry Ross, Freddrick Ross, Charles (Mary
Alice) Ross, James (Charlyn) Hampton, Shirley White,
Ella Richard, Melissa Ross, Shelia Ross, and Aaron Ross
(a few of whom preceded him in death).
