on Monday, November 2, 2020. Marcia was welcomed
home by her father, Noel; brothers, Christopher and
Noel, Jr; and many other family members and friends
who had predeceased her. Marcia was 64 years old.
Marcia is survived by: her mother, Daphne Dawkins;
daughters, Nicole Newman and Diane Fisher; son,
Moses Newman; brothers, Hugh and Delroy Dawkins;
and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Marcia was the loving daughter of Daphne and Noel
Dawkins, born on May 6, 1956, on the beautiful island
of Jamaica, West Indies. In 1963, Marcia’s parents
embarked on a journey to the United States with the
hopes of providing a better life for their children. By
1966, the family was reunited in their new family home
on Hinsdale Street in Brooklyn, New York. Marcia
attended school in the New York City boroughs of
Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Queens, and graduated
from Springfield High School.
Three of the happiest day’s in Marcia’s life was on
October 15, 1981, with the birth of Nicole, October 27,
1987, the birth of Diane, and on October 13, 1995, when
she welcomed her son Moses. Marcia devoted all of her
time to her three children, whom she loved dearly.
As a stay-at-home mother, Marcia loved to cook for
her family and was well-known for being the go-to
person for all your Avon needs. Later in her life, Marcia
developed a deep passion for basketball, quickly joining
the Miami Heat bandwagon, all the while knowing her
brother Danny was a loyal New York Knicks fan.
Marcia will be dearly missed by all those who knew her.
Those closest to her will miss her calls, funny jokes, and
stories. While we are saddened that she is no longer here
with us on earth, the cherished memories will forever be
in our hearts.
